Our IT person told me this today. Is this true? I cannot see how this will be positive.
If you are using smart list, it literally built create a cache based on what you use the most.
it is basically a 0 medication custom list solution.
I have not heard that. Is it with a specific version of CPS?
Terry
I really hope this isn't true. Our med custom lists are not provider specific and are definitely not based on "most frequently used". They are built by category. For example, we have a custom list called "Birth Control" that contains all the birth controls that our providers like to prescribe. If a provider needs to prescribe a prenatal vitamin that he has given in the past, but he can't remember what it is called, he just goes to the cust. med list called "Prenatal Vitamins" and should find it on that list. In fact, most of our providers probably don't even know how to search for a med that isn't on a custom list.

Sorry i got confused.
but Med list does not follow the Smart list yet.
the fact that you will be able to use the Smart list does not mean that they will get rid of Custom Medication List.
Our practice is a heavy user of Custom Medication List.
while some users use the same Med List, the biggest amount of our 54 physician use their own Custom list and that is not going anywhere.
We have heard a few questions regarding support for medication custom lists. There are no changes to medication custom lists in any service pack for CPS or CEMR, nor are there any changes or removed support in any upcoming releases.
i did heard about making the Custom Medication List Smart list capable as well.
but never heard of them removing the capability of using custom medication list.
