Hello.. I am dealing with a situation where our system admin person who has done the back ups in the past does not remember how (80 years old). So I am trying to learn.
Does anyone have any resources they can point me to? Or can they share the "dumbed down" process? or SQL script?
Our database name is Nicholas and I know where it is located. I know all users need to be out of the EMR to do a back up and that this process will take some time and no one can access the database while the back up is running.
Thank you for your help!

Dana,
Are you simply trying to set up the process? GE support could help, but in short you just need to take a back up copy of some EMR files. You do need users out, and oracle stopped (for a cold backup). We do this nightly, and it works for us. Other folks have hot backups, and you don't need to have a system down time for that.
If you want to do a cold backup, you can follow most of the steps here:

If you need to find where the old backups are... Don't know. Search for the oracle database files?
