Hello,
We have physicians who do not want desktops in the exam room. I need specific alternatives i.e., tablet, Laptop, convertibles that will run the EMR successfully. Thanks!!!

A couple of our providers use laptops or surface tablets and then they remote desktop into their desktops in their office. It seems to work out well for them. We have also successfully installed the EMR software on a Microsoft Surface tablet and they have been able to use that. Laptops have been our go to for any provider not wanting to have a desktop in the exam rooms though.
Codyh3,
Do you know how the provider handles printing when using a tablet or Microsoft Surface? In your clinic do you have multiple printers or one single network printer everything points to?
Each provider has their own printer for their area. When they use a laptop or surface tablet and connect to their desktop via Microsoft Remote Desktop their printers are redirected. So whichever printers they have on their desktop they have on their tablet or laptop.
On Centricity Live 2015 I heard about an added-in product that you can use to host all your HTML encounter forms and connect to them using any devise with html browser: tablet, laptop and phone.
Unfortunately, I do not remember person's name or company . From my understanding this is sort of API server that translate MEL into direct database calls.
Sorry, but this all that I have about this product.
We use regular laptops at many of our clinics. In the past we tried laptops with touch screens but the emr interface just wasn't really designed for touch.
