Is anyone successfully obtaining patient photographs in Registration with an efficient workflow that does not cause CPS to crash randomly from time to time? If yes, are you willing to share what hardware/software/workflows you are using?
We currently have a web-cam and click Get Photo > WEB-CAM on a computer that has a web-cam attached via USB. It is a very efficient setup, but leads to a lot of CPS crashes. In the past, we used a digital camera and uploaded photos from the camera's file system; this did not cause CPS crashes, but our front office team has told me that this workflow is very inefficient. I've asked GE Support to advise as to hardware/software/workflows, but I wanted to see if anyone outside of GE has found an efficient and stable process.
Thanks!
We use a Microsoft Webcam as well, but only for patients whom do not have a Drivers License or ID. We use a scanner, small one at the check-in desks to scan their ID and crop the picture from it for their photo.
We sort of do the same thing but without admin rights the webcam button is not an option so we capture the picture with the webcam's software (in our case Logitech), then import the picture from the hard drive. It is a couple extra steps but CPS won't crash as a result.
I didn't realize there was a stability issue there.

Mike, what are you doing to manage the local files on the workstations?
Do any of you gather a consent form prior to taking the photo? If so can you please share an example. Thank you.
