Does anybody know what populates the External ID field on the patient's registration?
I have been playing around and sending in HL7 messages from our Lab system trying to populate the External ID with our Lab System ID and i've changed the settings in LinkLogic to use the external ID and then also sent the Lab PID on PID2 in the message for which Centricity says it picks up the external ID on PID2 and it does not seem to update.
Any suggestions?

We use PID-3 for external ID's not PID-2

ok i tried that, and it matched the patient HOWEVEr the External ID field on the registration did not populate the number.
Is there a setting somewhere in Centricity in LinkLogic that i need to do?

Did you go into the LinkLogic Task Options for the particular task? Underneath the window that shows the Configuration files is a check box that is "Allow import file to update patient's external ID".
You'll need to make sure this is checked if you want the external ID to update.
