So I was one of the ones keeping my fingers crossed the hardship would allow us to testify this year to Stage 1 criteria. But now I really need to get going for Stage 2.
So for stage one, we almost went down the route of getting up and going with Centricity Clinical Gateway.
But now, for Stage 2, you are required to have Qvera (as well as for PQRS, etc), but you can still use CCG for somethings and sounds like.
Can someone give me the cliff notes on what CCG might be able to do that Qvera wont?
-is CCG easier to configure?
-Should I even worry about CCG at this point, or is everything moving to Qvera, meaning is there something required for MU2 that you can't accomplish with Qvera that I would require CCG?
-Seems like the enable they same operations correct?
Thanks!
GE is not installing CCG anymore for immunization installs. We've installed Qvera/QIE and have it running in test.
You can use various products although they need Stage 2 Certification both for the message format and transmission protocols.
QIE - Value is that GE supports and installs the product. Also, it is pretty much a one-time flat-fee price with annual maintenance. More money up front. It seems to do the basic MU job -- we'll be installing the Query&Response download side too at some point.
STC - Great product with some nice features on recommended immunizations. You probably don't even need HTML forms with this. STC really knows immunizations. We didn't go with them mostly because of annual per-provider licenses which just weren't worthwhile for anyone not a Pediatrician (which is most of our docs). Less money up front. For a Peds site or smaller organization, it could be great.
LostCreek - they did Stage 1 immunizations although I haven't seen them on the Stage 2 list.
SureScripts - they've entered the Immunization registry market but haven't announced contracts yet with GE. Would be a good choice if 2015 MU rules change ever allow for a quarterly reporting period or if you're still Stage 1; I spoke to them earlier in 2014 but just couldn't wait it out past July 1. Still unsure whether or not they'll partner with GE by January 1, 2015.
Good start to the discussion, thanks Jim.
I think it would also be safe to assume that QIE is the tool of recommendation for exchanging CCDA documents via HISP, etc. correct?
I know it can be done using portal/messenging, but I don't see that workflow ever really working with other providers.
We've tried to get othe providers to sign up for our secure messaging systems, but they don't really care to do so.
We plan to go the QIE route for automating transitions of care, although it's difficult to know what their project entails. The Immunization guide discusses messages at an HL7 level but not really in detailed terms of a project plan. Qvera told one of our folks at the Palm Desert CHUG that they connect to MedAllies as their HISP and give you new Direct accounts.
Since we're already on SureScripts, we don't really need another Direct. Secondly, we already have SureScripts connected with our local HIE, so getting MedAllies' certs connected will just add more complexity.
While Kryptiq's Secure Messaging can certainly send the CCD-As, that manual workflow makes Biscom look state-of-the art for its ease of usage.
QIE vs. Kryptiq ACM or 9.9/12.x?
Our hospital does this manually and it is an incredibly time-consuming effort that again makes faxing look good and QIE (or ACM) look even better.
