Is there a way to prevent a user from signing a prescription refill? Since a prescription refill can be done through a range of different document types and we cannot realistically take away signing priveleges to all these additional types I was hoping there might be another way to accomplish this.
Any ideas appreciated.
the only place I can think of is in the permissions list
Scott, we looked at taking away rights to sign the Rx Refill document, however if the user did the refill via a chart maint document she was still able to sign off.
Any other ideas certainly appreciated.
On the signature part of permission
there is a signature field that say
RX Refill -Sign
you should change it to
Rx-Refill - Sign (additional Signature required)

We have always struggled with this, as the permissions are not granular enough to really lock down the prescriptions the way we'd like to. We've been asking GE for this ability to grant a separate privilege for the actual prescription signature function, but it is still based on document type signing privileges.
Currently we try to reduce the risk of staff inadvertantly signing off on Rx by training staff to never 'prep up' a prescription (ie; only providers should be filling out quantity & refill amounts).
