Has anyone noticed their SP11 being slower than previous versions? We upgraded from SP9 and have had numerous complaints that the EMR is much slower than it was prior to upgrade.
Yes, we upgraded last weekend and our staff are reporting a significant decease in speed.
We upgraded this Saturday and has been noticing slowdown specially when you are signing documents.
I have also notice that the RAM requirement on the JBOSS server has spiked by what i would estimate about to 40% more.
funny thing is that there were no notes about the increase of ram requirement on the Release notes.
I had not looked at the RAM on JBOSS. Ours went from using 6 gigs of space before the upgrade to 14.5 gigs. It looks like we had a similar jump like this in the past between March and June of this year but the date does not line up with any of our upgrades.
I looked at task manager and nothing was using more than the java process which had less than 400mb used so I added a few more columns and found that the Memory Commit Size is what has +13g of used memory. I looked this up and it shows that the commit size is " Amount of virtual memory that's reserved for use by a process."
Since it is just reserved for the process, and not actually in use by the process, I am thinking that it might have been one of the installation steps that the GE technician performed to make sure that the app server had plenty of memory reserved.
I don't think that the app server memory usage is related to slowness, at least not at our site. (if you do not have a dedicated app server or if you end up paging because of the memory usage it could have an effect for sure)
I emailed the install engineer and he stated:
"Yes, I probably did make a change. I have been setting the memory parameters to 70%. If you go into the "C:\GEDeployment\Backup\D\Jboss" folder and look at the Wrapper.conf and compare to the Wrapper.conf in "C:\Program Files\Centricity Practice Solution\jboss\jsw". Let me know. The Wrapper.conf can be updated. The change will take affect the next time you stop/restart Jboss."
It looks like the initial setting is set to take up 12gigs of memory in our new wrapper config file and the old file was set much lower.
Old file:
wrapper.java.additional.5=-Xms256m
wrapper.java.additional.6=-Xmx8294m
New File:
wrapper.java.additional.5=-Xms12G
wrapper.java.additional.6=-Xmx12G
We are getting reports of slowness too. Has anyone put a ticket into GE for this?
Our wrapper.conf went from Xms5G up to Xms9G. Does anyone know what % of the actual server ram that should be set at, or do most of you leave it at the default?
According to the GE engineer that did the install, he was setting them at 70% on a dedicated App server. This seemed reasonable to me and I didn't see much in the way of pagefile usage/activity so I think it is working well.
Yes we have a ticket open with them. They had one of their DBA's in there looking at it. I was not involved in the ticket (it was opened by a coworker) so I am not sure what happened.
We are seeing huge lags as well. I turned in a ticket to GE, got one call back by voice mail and haven't heard back! Ughhh so dang frustrating.
Since upgrading to SP11 we've had performance issues and a number of issues with chart locks. GE support told me yesterday this is supposed to be fixed in the next service which was planned for release late next week. I was told they are now talking about delaying the release to fix issues with locking and performance that a number of users are reporting.
