We have had a large increase of tickets in regards to script printing issues. Users are reporting a 5-10 min delay when printing scripts. This seems to occur on daily basis. Regardless of patient chart load (problems/medication list size) it will occur on all.
Not only has there been a print delay, but also there has been issues with the scripts printing from the wrong drawer (plain paper). Configuration on the printers and servers all seem to be pointing to the correct drawers. Sometimes after rebooting the printer it will resolve.
Last but not least we've noticed the EMR print settings will change upon login throughout the day. Documents and prescriptions will be checked off and pointing to the correct drawer. User logs out and logs back in and the printers have all changed again.
Anyone else experiencing these issues?! :[
Hi Alyssa - Slow prescription printing could be a few different things. Can you test the workflow on non peak times and see if it still happens? If it works fine then Oracle & JBoss may need to be tuned (especially if you've recently added users to the database).
As for printers changing after someone logs in, it means Task Based Printing is not configured correctly. I wrote the following whitepaper when I was at GE since TBP came up a lot.
- Set UseClientName =TRUE in the CFW.INI/EMR.INI file of every Citrix/RDS Server
- Enable Legacy Printer Name Policy in Citrix
- If using Citrix XenApp/ XenDesktop 7.5 apply the following hotfix: https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX141556?_ga=1.254419976.162519466.1475520662
- If using Citrix XenApp/ XenDesktop 7.6 apply the following hotfix: https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX142160?_ga= 1.216739222.162519466.1475520662
**If Citrix Workspace Control is enabled Task Based Printing will not work correctly**
