We have upgraded to cps 10 from emr 2005 and we are experiencing speed issues with printing. When you click the print button for orders, scripts, or superbills it takes on average about 10 seconds for cps to process the job and send to the printer. It happens on fat clients and term server clients, printers with different drivers do the same thing. Even printers installed locally instead of the print server.
GE said they have other customers that have this issue and don't seem to have an answer. Has anyone experienced this and found a way to reduce the time?
Thank you,

you want to make sure you have a PCL5 or 6 driver installed. And use Paths instead of shared network printing.
what do you mean by use paths?
Sorry, meant Local Port --
If you are using shared printers, install them on each computer like this:::
Add Printer > Local Printer > Create a new Port > Local Port
Enter Port name :
Example \\112COMPUTERNAME\MYPRINTER
Centricity works better with printing this way than passing it through the network to get rendered by the hosting computer, especially if there is a 64, 32 bit difference.
thank you. I will give this a try.
did this work for you?
No it didn't. After further testing it's only happening when printing crystal reports such as superbills, prescriptions, orders, etc. If you print an office visit or a lab report it prints almost instantly. I've talked to GE and they are investigating it. It looks like its something with crystal reports.
weird. we do not have that issue. might want to see if you have the latest PCL5 or PCL6 drivers install for your printer.
