Hello,
I am a pediatricians in Denver. We just started using GE Centricity. We can't figure out how to use the spell checker. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Pete Knott, MD
When you are in an update, close the current form. Above the note, there is a row of buttons. One has a check mark on it with ABC above it. That is the spellchecker. By default it will check the entire note, but it can't automatically change "protected text", which is text coming from a form. You have to change that spelling on the form itself. You can set the spellchecker to not check protected text in Options, Spelling. You can tweak the dictionary there too.
Thanks for the help. Does that mean I have to keep switching back and forth from text to form, word by word, to actually correct the spelling? I can't do it in the text format and there is no spell checker in the form. That seems a bit cumbersome and time consuming.
If I don't check protected text, can I then use the spell checker in the text format like I would any other word document?
I agree that it is cumbersome and time consuming. It just depends on your work flow if not checking protected text will help. Here at OU, the note is usually always protected text. Our physicians rarely enter anything in our notes outside of forms. But yes, it will correct misspellings for you in unprotected text just like any Windows program.
This seems lime a bit of a joke. you can spell check the text but you cannot use the suggested spelling? Am I seeing this right? Why even bother of you don't complete the process?
