I didn't know where to find the error log file in CPS (the error.txt file was empty). Here is a copy of the windows event log.

It looks like a windows thing, but I'm not sure what to make of it. Is it a problem with the mfc90.dll? Could it be corrupted?
Thanks,
Nitin
what Cps version
CPS 9.5 SP1
might be a windows internet explorer issue. i believe you must have version 7 running for 9.5 and not anything newer.

I'm having a similar issue where the chart component start's to open and then closes right away, however I am having this problem on a Win 7 x64 client. And the same thing where there is no problem with the PM part. Also, this is only happenning on a few Win 7 x64 systems. The rest of them work ok, but I can't find what the differences between the client systems where CPS chart works, and the systems where it doesn't work. I'll try loading the hotfixes that were listed, but I didn't have to do any manual hotfix installs on the sysetms that do work. Whatever needed to be updated was taken care of with windows update. I've even tried running windows update manually to see if anything needs to be downloaded and installed. Does anyone have insight into this? I've been 'banging my head' with this for the whole week trying to figure it out.
Thanks,
Nitin
Also check your installed printers and print spooler, as this sounds like the exact problem we are facing.
We had an issue with this on a few machines and discovered that if we disbled the Tablet PC Input Service it cured this issue.

Is this a thing? We are also running CPS 9.5 and IE 8. I will try downgrading my IE as well to see if that helps us.
This is a windows 7 service. It is needed if you are using a tablet PC, but if you are not you can disable this service with no ill affect.

Have you ran the following HotFixes?
- KB2635024
- KB2633799
- KB2488754
- KB2495300this seems to be a MS issue, not CPS. Trying installing the hotfixes and rebooting the server. Let me know how it turns out.
Thanks Acantu, I will take a look at these next week and report back when and if the problem recurs.
No, no and no for all hotfixes, none are applicable to our systems. Thank you for the info.

You cannot uninstall IE 8 from Server 2008 R2, that's the lowest it goes, so much for that

I tried this as well, but we never had the service turned on or enabled, so no go for us on this one either. Thanks.
R2 is not recommended for 9.5, per GE Spec's

I hate to be that guy, but can you link me to that specific documentation? I have to say it : when we went to 9.5 the GE technician who helped us upgrade ok'ed the use of R2.
Should we be using Windows Server 2008 x86?
My apologies, I was getting 9 mixed up with 9.5
