We were directly in the eye of Hurricane Irma this week. Our Administrator had received text messages from two of his providers (not affiliated with our office) with updates on closings/openings. He asked me if it was something we could do as well. Has anyone implemented such a system? If so what vendor do you use?

Our office uses RainedOut ... http://www.rainedout.com/
It is free, and you can set up groups within the organization like Physicians, Managers, Staff, etc.
We use it to warn about weather closings/delays, let the docs know if the server is down or power is out, etc.
Works well!

Our appointment reminder system, Vital Interactions, provides that type of messaging. Has been great!
