For each patient, we need to keep track of external providers from whom the patient receives care. Ex: Cardiologist, Dermatologist, etc.). We have historically always entered these other providers in Registration > Contacts as Personal Contacts with the Personal Contact Relationship listed with a prefix of "MD -" (ex: MD - Addiction Psychiatry). This works...but it feels like we're trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.
We recently saw a CCC form that that tracks these external providers in an observation term (SERVICE PROV). This form used Orders > Service Providers as the lookup table to add additional providers to SERVICE PROV. Very cool solution!
Both of the solutions above work...but I'm trying to determine the best practice for tracking these providers in CPS. How does your practice track these external providers?
Thanks!
I do not have an answer for you, but I am curious which CCC form version and which form you noticed the Service Provider tracking?
Thanks!!
The form is named Clinical Review & Mgmt Letter, and the functionality is on the Address tab.
