We use EMR 9.5 and Allscripts PM. Run about 290 concurrent users at peak times. Most likely we will go combined after upgrading to 9.8. With MU 2 and ICD 10 in 9.8, adding a new user interface via CPS (as well as a new back end) would be just too much going on at one time. To need to training all staff (support and end user) as well as going through all our custom reports and rewriting as needed for table changes that happen going from Oracle to SQL.
The powers that be could change their minds but right now that is the plan, 9.8 then probably CPS 13 after it comes out. Database size really doesn't have anything to do with it, it is all the changes that will be happening that support staff will need to get up to speed on and end users that will need training. The smaller the site the easier this move will probably be.
I don't know if we will in-place upgrade to 9.8 or virtualize, thereby moving to "new hardware". Obviously the move to CPS will require new hardware.
I would like to know how many EMR (oracle) customers are moving to the combined product of CPS?
If you are, do you plan to do it before or after EMR 9.8?
What reasons do you have for moving forward or delaying?
What concerns do you have?
Would you be willing to share some information:
how many users?
how big is your database?
do you use GE products: CPS and EMR?
What are the most pressing issues you perceive for the move?
Thanks,
mhenry
We have a peak of 115 users. We're going to upgrade first to EMR 9.8 and then to CPS 12 since we can do those upgrades ourselves. Once those are in place, we'll talk to GE about going to the combined product, but I anticipate a long delay since there will probably be a long line of customers waiting for GE's migration services. My biggest concern is the 20 or so hours GE says the migration takes.
We are holding off on going to the combined product until it proves itself.
