We're currently in the process of testing out CPS with our existing hospital vmware view vdi environment (view 5.1, windows 7, floating pools).
Our health centers each have their own pool of windows 7 desktops with CPS 10 installed on them. The desktops are part of a floating pool so when one someone logs in for the day they'll get a random desktop. In our testing this has caused havoc with CPS remembering printer settings. Everyone gets the same windows printers yet CPS appears to forget printer selections (e.g., prescription printer, superbill, etc.). When someone logs into CPS it could be a crapshoot if the printers are correct or not.
Anyone currently testing a vdi environment with CPS and having any luck, or, have any tips for CPS and printing?
Thanks.
By default CPS stores the printers in the database with a combination of the server name and some windows session id. I don't know if that ever works well, it always changed on our remote desktop server and didn't help when our users moved around.
I don't have experience with vdi but try this... In the EMR.ini file thats in the CPS 10 Client program dirs, look for UseClientName and change to UseClientName=TRUE. If it works your printer settings should stick to the computer you're connecting from.
