After upgrading to CPS 12 our PM Staff can no longer view attachments. When they go to modify patient info, click the paperclip, select the attachment , then click view nothing happens. We have check the default programs and it is set to "Windows Photo Viewer" for tif files. They can export, save, and then view fine. Any ideas??
I checked and ours are functioning properly in our test environment, which is upgraded to v12.
It does sound like a viewer problem, but I think the viewer for this part is built into CPS, not launching the default from the machine.

Try this:
I had this problem several versions ago. CPS attempts to use a built in browser instead of Adobe in IE, but the funny thing is that it doesn't seem to work-EVER. The fix I had to do on the fly was to edit a value in mlsetvar.txt
// SPR 45279 (clone of 43561) Used to control how the browser is used for external attachments
// 0 = use the CPSBrowser, any other, use ShellExecuteEx to open the default browser
Variable: _BrowserMode Type: Long Value: 0 (CHANGE "0" to "1" HERE)
It seems like CPS 12 did the change in my test system too. I made the change and it appears to behave differently but I can not truly test because I changed the name of my old DM server

Hi Mike,
Someone pointed to your solution from another thread. I don't know how I missed your post, but following your directions, I was able to fix our issue of having the Centricity Practice Solution browser open up unnecessarily. Our staff has been complaining about this for months. The extra click to close it was a pain. Thanks a bunch!

Were you able to resolve your issue with viewing tif files? We are having the same issue in our environment after our CPS 12 upgrade. We have a combination of Citrix servers and thick clients, but the majority of users access CPS through the thin client. After the upgrade, the file association was changed to 'unknown application'. Once we changed the association to 'Windows Photo Viewer' on the Citrix servers, the CPS client (on the server) worked, however, the thin client end-user is still unable to open a document in Windows Photo Viewer. When clicking on 'Default Viewer' in Registration, it does nothing.
The thick clients do not seem to have an issue, however, I did notice that the file association had also changed to unknown application, but after changing it, it worked fine. It's only Citrix users that have the problem.
Any direction you can point us in would be great. Did you edit the mlsetvar.txt file? And if so, did it work?
Thanks!
