We recently had a state audit where we were advised that the Immunization documentation should include a VIS given date. The idea is that the administered date does not count as a VIS given date per the CDC. Has anyone else experienced this?
We have experienced this as well - in NY state. We logged an issue and were told to make sure that the staff was completing the questionnaire on the imm form. There is a box to check off that says: "Vaccine information given and explained to patient?" That's the box you must check off. You are stating that vaccine information was given and explained to the patient on that date of service. (Of course, if you are not giving it on that date, you may want to change to doing that in order to meet the requirement.)
We had the same issue in CT. The auditors wanted that the VIS was given for each vaccine (not just once on the questionnaire) so our nurses are typing "VIS given" in the comment box for each vaccine.
