Thought it might be a good idea to create a post eliciting responses from the community on what they're hearing about v20 and the development timeline. Athena is ramping up the official communication with weekly briefings, but we all hear things from other sources too.
Our site is currently running CEMR 9.12.3 and have not implemented an EPCS solution.
Have at it.
We have yet to implement EPCS either due to cost; it really should just come with the product as it is pretty much basic functionality for an EMR. I asked our "success manager" what will v20 mean to those that have already paid to implement the current EPCS solution vs. those that have not, and they did not have an answer.
We've been told that providers will not have to go through identity proofing again, but the sunk costs for implementation on the current solution (Digicert/Imprivata/Surescripts) would be lost. They haven't stated what the annual cost of the Dr. First solution is per provider.
We're more concerned about the litany of changes proposed in v20. Medication/Prescribing module, immunization management, chart summary, orders module, etc. and the aggressive timeline. It doesn't leave much time for testing/validation, documentation creation, and training.
