Most of our clinical staff including our Providers use laptops and are on the wireless connection. (We are currently on CPS 12.11). (Most have solid state hard drives)
If you are on fat clients and use wireless, how is your connectivity? Is there lag time? Do users get kicked off multiple times during the day?
We tried it years ago and decided Thin Clients is the way to go for Wireless. You bandwidth is based on signal strength and it varies to much. Also the number of users on AP will make it take a hit also.
Most of all FAT clients are a admin nightmare when it comes to updates. As few as possible is best.
We use Citrix for our laptops and that works well. For a few laptops that have Fat Clients on Wireless for us is for sure slower than a wired connection.
Let's just wireless and fat EMR period does not work very well together. Dropped connections, etc.
