We set our ICD10 date to August 1st and left our insurances at October 1st to start getting ready for ICD10 with CPS 12. We are seeing an issue with our vaccine diagnoses that I can't seem to figure out. Even though it seems that all my vaccine v codes are linked to Z23, they come across as ??? in billing. We tried sending the Z23 code instead, but you can only have it link to one ICD9 code and there are many more vaccine diagnoses in ICD9. We tried just sending Z23, but it can only be linked to 1 code so we still have to manually edit each ticket to find the correct v code. We do childhood immunizations and adult immunizations, so this it's becoming very taxing on our billers.
Does anyone know how to fix this or link it correctly so the ICD9 codes come over cleanly from the chart side?
After speaking with GE about the situation, it seems it will be impossible for this to work as we need it to. The billers will have to map Z23 to the correct ICD9 version every time we do an immunization. This will be alleviated once we get to the October 1st go live, but it sure is a hassle for the 2 months leading up to it.
I'd be interested as well. This was one of the reasons were waiting until 10/1 to go live with ICD-10 coding.
