I’ve been experiencing a recurring issue with Adobe Acrobat Reader where it frequently "stops responding" and needs to close, showing a generic Windows error. A few months ago, I reached out to Athena's support team, and they advised turning off "protected mode" in Adobe. This seemed to fix the problem for most users temporarily, lasting anywhere from a day to a week, but the issue always returns. I’ve checked the protected mode setting each time, and it remains unchanged.
The only workaround so far has been reinstalling Adobe, which again only provides a temporary fix, likely due to the continuous updates in Adobe Reader DC.
I’d be happy to pay for support, but Adobe doesn’t offer anything useful for Acrobat Reader. Are there alternative PDF solutions compatible with Athena's software that don’t have these issues?

I have used Foxit Reader successfully for a PDF reader but it has been a while. I'd test it out if you want to change.
