Good morning, we would like to talk with someone who has a connection with an HIE and are on version CPS 12.0. We are looking to connect with an HIE and they are needing information from PD1-12 and PD1-13 and those aren't currently used fields in v12.0 so we're wondering if anyone has found a workaround or if we are going to have to go on and upgrade to 12.2.
Linda
I also would like any information how other organizations have worked out the connection and information sharing with an HIE, we are currently starting to look into this process. Thanks
According to the CPS 12.2 interfaces guide, CPS MIK and DTS do not import or export PD1-12 or PD1-13.
PD1-12 is protection indicator, and PD1-13 is protection indicator effective date. Is that supposed to correlate to the sensitive chart value, the confidential document value, or something else?
I would suppose if you are talking about an MDM it would be related to a confidential document.
I am also very interested in others' HIE stories. We are currently looking into it also.
Linda, you could probably use Qvera. If the information is in the Centricity database they could probably pull in the HL-7 and update the fields you need and then push out the HL-7 to another location.
I've recently done some work getting information out of the Centricity database for an HIE, but they wanted CSV files rather than HL7. Did some custom SQL queries to get the data, did a quick reformat with PowerShell and then transferred the data via FTP.
Incidentally we've talked with Qvera about direct messaging. Their HIE is MedAllies. They have a pre-built HL7 interface and reconcilitation forms for CPS to accept and send CCDAs that looks pretty nice.
You could pull the PD1-12 and -13 correlated values out of the CPS database and add them to your HL7 with Mirth if you want to do it yourself.
We have asked Qvera if there was something they could do to help us and they suggested that we decide how were are going to "flag" a patient as "opted in" and they could pass it in the segments that our HIE is looking for. Although I am having trouble finding where we might be able to put this information in CPS. The registry tab has an opt-in but it only seems to be for Immunization. However that could be due to possibly not having another "registry" loaded in the Interoperability Configuration and Help isn't much help.
I was hoping to maybe get some other ideas from others on what they are doing if they have already connected with an HIE but I guess not all HIE's are looking for the same information since you have worked with one that was looking for a spreadsheet David.

We worked with Blackbird Solutions, they are extremely familiar with Qvera and with Centricity. We were very pleased with the results! http://blackbirdsolutions.com/
We have paid GE to build us both an outgoing CCDA interface and outgoing TOC interface, neither of which are live yet, because we are waiting on our HIE to get ready to accept them. GE built both of these in the Qvera Interface Engine (QIE).
