Guess i posted originally in the wrong section. But here's the situation.
"So we had a frontdesk PC crashed and we replaced it with a new one. However, even after installing the correct webcam drivers, when trying to access internal Centricity Webcam program, we get the msg “failed to acquire image from device”. But it works fine when I’m in the admin account. We tried to do the work around with Capture.avi in root C but that doesn’t seem to work. I seen some questions about this from 2015, just wondering if there’s a fix in 2017 ? We’re currently running CPS 12.0.11.2254"
Now with jkratzer's help, i disabled UAC, but that didn't seem to work either. Click on camera, it shows the scanner. Click on scanner, it still pull up scanner. Webcam can see image, but once you press Get-Photo button, "failed to acquire image from device" message appears. Please help!!!
Ensure that you have loaded the TWAIN drivers for your webcam.
CPS and camera's will not work properly with regular drivers without the users being a local administrator.
If any product required local admin privileges for a standard user, we would return the product. We've never granted elevated privileges (local admin, power user, etc) to standard users due to the broad security concerns.
The only exception years ago used to be Autocad (the drafting application), and obviously not in a healthcare environment, but even they finally came around and fixed their code.
This is still an issue in 2017. GE Support has a long explanation why it is not an easy fix but they said they are working on this.
My workaround is to use the web cam software from the manufacturer of the camera, save to the hard drive then import it into CPS. It is more work to do it this way but not as bad as cleaning up malware due to a Power User or Admin situation.
I agree with SLHV on the admin situation. ESPECIALLY with the Ransomware / Healthcare situation we have these days.

Sorry but I never heard of TWAIN drivers before. The webcam we're currently using is a Logitech C920. Where can I find the TWAIN driver for that?
-Thanks
You should be able to find them on Logitech's web site as part of the full driver package for your camera.
I used version 11.5.0 to get the TWAIN drivers.
When you download the version, extract it to a folder and look for a file name like lvWIAext.dll. That is the DLL from the version I used.
I'm currently at http://support.logitech.com/en_us/product/hd-pro-webcam-c920/downloads
I only see 2 drivers to download. Logitech Gaming Software 8.92.67 and Logitech Wecam Software 2.80.853.0a
Download the webcam software.
Sorry, what I meant I have both drivers previously installed. Both are exe, and in their folder after installation, I'm having trouble obtaining this 11.5 you're talk about. And from that point on, how do I force installed the Twain portion?
If the driver you downloaded has them, they will automatically install.
What OS is the workstation you are using?
Windows 7 Pro. Login is through domain. Webcam got no problem on my admin account. But user domain account is still no go.
I just E-Mailed you a driver for you to try. It is the one I use.
I have the same thing...Win 7 Pro in a domain.
I fought with this for 2 weeks before I figured it out.
