A provider showed me that after they due an interaction override on a medication, that medication with all refill history goes inactive and a new medication record gets added to the patient's chart.
This eliminates the refill function for this particular med and you can no longer see the history of refills unless you change the view from 'Active Only' to 'All items'.
Can this be avoided?(the original med being inactivated)
Have you made sure that you have the medication interaction override patch installed? We had to get this installed and then we no longer got the medication interaction checker.
This was the response from GE on that issue:
For your records, the SPR number for this issue is. CISDB00047471 I don’t have a slated date as to when this issue will be resolved. Here is the developers suggested workaround: Change workflow to view ALL rather than Active Only when viewing Medication tab. user must sift through entries to compile a complete historical view
Sirna, are you talking about the CPS 12.0.11 Drug Interaction Override Patch ?
We are still on 12.0.10
Not sure if this is really fixing what I am looking for.
We are having the same problem since the upgrade to SP 11. I reported to GE some time ago. The work around is not a great answer as it is very inefficient and time consuming. It is a patient safety issue when refilling prescriptions as the person refilling has to research in the chart as well as in the all items list to make sure they are getting correct sigs and quantities. I know nothing about an override patch but if you override the drug interaction checker you are not meeting the MU criteria for Objective 2 part B.
Should this be escalated?
