We are in the process of EMR implementation as well and would appreciate feedback/advice from any internal medicine groups that are currently using this product. It has been a bit challenging to customize forms that are succinct and efficient for IM physicians. How long did it take for your physicians to get back up to 100% productivity? Thank you
We are a gastro group and after 3 years and 3 months our physicians are only at 80% of their pre-EMR productivity level.
We are a group of mainly Internal Medicine Physicians.
we have been using EMR for quite a while.
With correct guidance you should be able to get your ROI within a year or less.
Centricity EMR is not hard product to be honest. Is pretty straight forward.
But as any other EMR system it have it strong point and it weak points also.
You really can't sell EMR as a time saver any more. Particularly if you are doing MU and/or other programs where they require so much mandatory data. You get readable and probably better) documentation that can be always available (even when you aren't in the office) and the ability to look at historical data and do reporting. All weaknesses of a paper system. How long would it take for you to find all your patients with an A1c done in the last year that was over 8? In the EMR it takes a few minutes. And you might be able to get better reimbursement because your documentation is better. You can build in decision support that helps you take better care of your patients. But unless your staff are all computer savvy and touch typists, you aren't going to save time in most cases. And once your providers get used to EMR, they will want more and more added to the forms or new forms created.
