Description/Job Summary
The Applications Support Coordinator assures that FPCNs technology systems provide the efficiencies and ease of use they were designed for in or to deliver safe and high quality patient care. Responsibilities include collaboration with all departments and end users to ensure the EHR is optimally configured and customized to meet the needs of the organization, provide support for end-users in use and usefulness of the EHR product, assure all FPCN staff understand expectations for use of the EHR and how to use it in a standardized fashion and assure understanding of improvements and upgrades provided by the vendors and be able to message these to staff.
Team members are expected uphold the health center mission by assuring that patients receive health care that is competent, caring, and meets with a high degree of satisfaction. In addition, staff must support FPCN's commitment to the creation of a trauma-informed system of care that continually recognizes and responds to the impact of traumatic stress on all those who have contact with the organization, including children, adults, families, caregivers, and staff
Family Practice and Counseling Network, a program of Resources for Human Development, is a network of community health centers providing comprehensive primary care, dental and behavioral health services. The Network consists of four health centers in Philadelphia – Abbottsford-Falls Family Practice & Counseling in the Northwest, the Stephen and Sandra Sheller 11th Street Family Health Services of Drexel University in the North, the Health Annex in the Southwest, and Annex West Health Center in West Philly housed in Action Wellness building (formerly Action AIDS); a convenient care clinic in Philadelphia – QCare; one health center in York, PA.—East Side Health Center. Today the Network serves more than 20,000 patients annually and is an NCQA certified Patient-Centered Medical Home.
The Network’s mission is to provide person-centered, integrated and comprehensive health services to individuals and families across their lifespan. The Network promotes resiliency and well-being among patients, staff and surrounding communities. Network services are targeted to the surrounding communities and the advisory committee that guides services primarily consists of people from the communities served.
POSITION SUMMARY:
- To assure that FPCNs technology systems provide the efficiencies and ease of use they were designed for in or to deliver safe and high quality patient care
- Collaboration with all departments and end users to ensure the EHR is optimally configured and customized to meet the needs of the organization
- Provide support for end-users in use and usefulness of the EHR product
- Assure all FPCN staff understand expectations for use of the EHR and how to use it in a standardized fashion
- Assure understanding of system features, functionality, improvements and upgrades provided by the vendors and using established processes, communicate effectively with the staff
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Training
- Develop a training curriculum that ensures optimal use of Centricity for new and established staff
- In collaboration with the Super User group, provide application training for new employees as well as ongoing training for established employees and staff on all software applications
- Create curricula, job aides and uses various means (in person, classroom and remote or GoToMeeting) to deliver training
- Provide remediation and refresher training when appropriate.
Clinical Informatics
- Translate clinical requirements to technical team including report writer
- Set expectations with clinical and operations teams regarding technical capabilities
CQI
- In collaboration with the Primary Care Director and QI Coordinator, identify gaps in work processes and/or system functionality, analyze and contribute to workflows and processes to optimize FPCNs technologies
- Act as a liaison between IT and clinical departments
- Develop testing plans for all forms and changes prior to putting them in production.
- Monitor and manages the testing process with clinical staff/leadership
- Develop requirements for interfaces and manages testing of interfaces.
Application Management
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the functionality of FPCNs EHR and other clinical software systems
- Translate the business requirements of all departments into IT solutions, specifically those that are relevant to patient care, clinical workflow, regulatory healthcare requirements, and fiscal/billing
- Employs best practices, maintains and updates all software configurations, content and decision support projects to support needs of the staff (design, build and test)

- Manage the request and development of EHR customization
- Promote adoption of FPCNs technologies to promote user efficiency, optimize user experience and increase use of technology in aiding patient care
- Communicate and collaborate with the fiscal team to ensure the optimization of the PM side of Centricity
- Initiate, track and provide status updates on all GE Centricity tickets, SRs and requests for information and support
- Obtain and develop a high-level summary for all GE Centricity upgrades and updates for leadership
- Ensure all end users are prepared for any system upgrades, modifications, changes with at least 1 week lead time
Qualifications
- GE Centricity knowledge and experience – REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
- At least 3 years in a healthcare setting
- At least 3 – 5 years providing health informatics services
- Demonstrated experience with evaluating, developing, training, and collaborating a wide variety of end users
- A strong understanding of applications supporting patient care (electronic health records), clinical support, patient billing, accounting and managed care
- In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills with the ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment and discretion
- Excellent oral and written skills
- Ability to effectively prioritize projects within the department.
