The Informatics Analyst is a critical, forward-thinking role involved with the enhancement, maintenance and support of content, data, and interoperability related to clinical and patient management application systems. This position will require strong information systems, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills as well as an understanding of healthcare operations, clinical processes, patient care, and the revenue cycle. Local travel to physician practices may be necessary.
Responsibilities
** Consult with physicians, researchers, executives, and other professionals to develop new clinical content and decision support tools within the GE Centricity application.
** Modify and enhance existing clinical content in Centricity
** Develop training documentation and deliver training sessions related to clinical content.
** Assist with the management of patient portal and secure messaging solutions. Drive patient engagement projects to promote portal use.
** Execute revenue cycle and clinical data reports.
** Analyze data and deliver information to support various projects including, but not limited to, quality improvement, cost containment, protocol-specific performance monitoring, clinical outcomes analysis, physician resource utilization, and market analysis.
** Participate in interoperability projects including HL7 interfaces, Health Information Exchange (HIE), and DIRECT messaging.
** Aid in the management, maintenance, and optimization of clinical applications and databases with heavy emphasis on Centricity Practice Solutions (PM and EMR) and SQL.
** Assist in the resolution of problems related to revenue cycle and clinical applications and provide system support to end-users as needed
** Assist in the development of and updates to documentation related to clinical applications including standard operating procedures and inventory management
** Support organizational projects related to regulatory compliance, quality initiatives, and pay-for-performance programs including HIPAA, Meaningful Use, Patient-Centered Medical Home, and PQRS.
** Assist in the selection of new information technology products related to patient care
** Participate in other clinical application and IT projects as needed
** Maintain knowledge of current medical informatics, trends, and changes in healthcare information technologies
Requirements
** Bachelor’s degree in computer science, health information management, informatics or a clinical field plus five years relevant experience, at least two of which were in a healthcare environment
** Two years of experience with an enterprise EHR application, preferably GE Centricity but a similar product such as Allscripts, NextGen, Greenway, or eClinicalWorks is acceptable.
** Ability to design, develop, and maintain clinical content and decision support in an enterprise EHR application environment. Experience with Centricity Practice Solutions / Centricity EMR, and VFE is preferred.
** Project management experience with a focus on managing multiple projects simultaneously
** Experience implementing and/or supporting electronic health record software in a clinic setting
** Experience running reports, analyzing results and communicating information to relevant stakeholders
** Knowledge of HL7 interface development and maintenance is a plus
Knowledge of healthcare programs in which IT plays a major role (e.g., Meaningful Use, Patient-Centered Medical Home, PQRS)
** Knowledge of clinical terminology and coding standards such as ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, LOINC, and SNOMED.
** Strong written and verbal communication skills
** Ability to work independently and complete projects on time
