Job Title: IT Engineer
About the Job: The IT Engineer will work closely with management and staff to meet their needs for computer hardware, software and networking tools. They will test, install, configure, troubleshoot, and provide long-term support for all computer hardware and software. As part of this process, they will create proper documentation, diagrams, and other detailed instructions to help other employees make the best use of new technologies. In addition, the IT Engineer will be responsible for configuring, maintaining, customizing, and supporting all components of our electronic health record and practice management software.
Major Responsibilities/Tasks:
- Troubleshoot and resolve support requests for all hardware, networking, and software.
- Install, configure, and maintain all servers, workstations, and laptops.
- Administer hypervisors, physical servers, switches, firewalls, and SAN.
- Configure, maintain, and support PBX and digital phones.
- Maintain, optimize, and support PM, EHR, patient portal, e-prescribing, and secure messaging software.
- Configure software to help meet regulatory requirements.
- Create and remove user accounts and permissions.
- Configure and maintain DHCP, DNS, SMB, and Active Directory.
- Provide software training to management and team leads.
- Administer hosted Exchange.
- Configure and maintain backup software.
Education and Experience:
- GE Centricity Practice Solution 12 knowledge and experience – REQUIRED.
- Windows Server administration – REQUIRED.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
- Good working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Good interpersonal skills and understanding of team dynamics.
- Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment.
Work Environment:
Position is in a well-lighted office environment and work is typically performed on-site. Occasional evening and weekend work is required. Varied activities including sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting.
