Looking for options for ABN Waivers: (We are still using paper forms that are handwritten)
What has your Practice implemented?

We created a template using visual signature capture from logical innovations. It came out pretty close to what you download from CMS, and our compliance officer said it would work. We have been using it for about a year and haven't had any issues that I am aware of.

I can email them to you, they are vfc and xml files though. Its a separate product from logical innovations, if you have not purchased it then the files are pretty useless.

Do you use Logical for HIPAA and other Patient forms too?

Yes basically all administrative forms, a variety of consents, release of information, things like that. I think they also do a good job with basic clinical forms, but we don't really use it for that.

Would you be willing to share how much annually visual capture is for this workflow? I assume you also had to buy some additional software for the actual capturing of signatures or do you use a touch screen tablet for this?

Depending on the patient's insurance, our customized forms print DME agreements and ABNs as handouts, which our staff get signed and scanned. Electronic signature would be very nice, but with constant service packs, MIPS changes, etc. we can hardly keep up with the day to day.

With Visual Signature Capture (VSC) you can build HTML patients forms and consents such as an ABN waiver. With VSC we can fill the ABN with known patient information automatically.
Staff can add additional data to the document and then allowing the patient to review and sign using a touch screen Tablet, Laptop or PC (we also integrate with Topaz Signature pads) We have several clients that are using VSC to process ABNs successfully just like Michael Gibson at ProCare Systems, one of our early adopters.
We also handle many different workflows.
Registration documents including Patent Profiles, Release of information, Benefit Assignment and Privacy Policy.
We can also update clinical information like Medical Histories, ROS, Screens, Scored Assessments and all kinds of procedural consent. VSC can be launched from a landing page, the EMR or your PM system.
