We have on average 100 lab errors per day to resolve manually due to our home grown lab interfaces with affiliated hospital. Most of them are result of patients’ names entered differently in Centricity and hospital EMR. It would be nice to be able to have multiple staff working the errors to distribute the work load. I know we can have one person start at the top and one at the bottom but that seems like a bizarre way of doing things. I don't see the way LinkLogic can utilize EMR desktops, that would be a good solutions. Does anyone have good idea how to go about this ?
you only solution is to have Bi directional interface.
if you guy see the same patiens, either Demographics or order base.
1-Demographcis means that they will always have your patient information.
2- order, means whenever your place send somebody to the hospital an order will be generated and sent over the interface to the hospital for that order, oder being either: Lab or imaging.
But they will always have the right patient demographic information.
Use the organize button and separate the work with date time filters for each employee to work a certain "shift" ofg error from the last day .
Employee A 1 am to 6 am
Employee B 6:01 an to Noon
ect, ect
Good luck,
JJC
JJC, do you mean Organize button under options when you are in LinkLogic? That one does not have date/time filters. I'm lost here. Not sure which button you are thinking, but sounds like a good idea.
Thank you everyone !
Thank you David. We have bidirectional interface, both orders and results interfaces implemented. Unfortunately no one on the hospital side is looking at the orders that are sent out electronically but rely on the printed lab slips 🙁
You can modify the view to only show certain interfaces and have one person working the lab errors another working the hospital errors and so on.
We use Liaison for this very reason for the past 6-7 years. It reduces the number of errors drastically and it completes the order when the result is received back in.
