Hello,
Appointment question- is there a way to put up a pop up or a block in appointments on a patient having two appointments on the same day within the practice? We have had instances where a patient will see a neurologist and then a midlevel in another area within our practice on the same day. Just wondering if the system can somehow inform us of this with a pop up?
Thanks in advance!
In regards to two appointments on the same day, I would recommend using the Appointment Set feature. This will "link" the appointments together. As a visual cue, an icon will show on the appointment that it is part of a same day appointment set.
When you check the patient in for one appointment it will notify you they are scheduled for a second appointment and ask if you would like to check them in for that appointment as well. Dependent on your practice workflow you can say Yes or No. When you check out the patient you will receive the same pop up in regards to updating the status on both appointments. Again you have the ability to select Yes or No.
As the service orders will be coming into the PM from two different providers you will still have two separate tickets for billing purposes.
I hope this helps! 🙂
Thank you for the response. I don't think I explained well enough. We do currently use appointment sets for other appointments. What we are wanting here is our scheduling department to be stopped from scheduling a second appointment. This has to do with billing and how both providers will not be able to bill a service order on the same day.
When a patient is scheduling their appointment and they already have one in the system for the same day or future, there is a popup that states, this patient has an appointment (displays date) and asks do you want to continue making this appointment? There is not a security setting that prevents this, only the popup.
Valerie, This is exactly what we are wanting-- do you happen to know how or where you turned this on?
Is there a way to prevent users from cancelling or rescheduling appointments sets through security settings?
