I am beginning an ambitious project to create profiles (or scorecards, if you prefer) for each of our doctors. This would be useful in trying to understand optimal size of panel, scheduling templates, re-assignment of patients (to/from this doctor), and so on.
Figuring there to be about 30 or so metrics, I am estimating that just too much for Crystal to do in a single pass; and therefore I should be thinking about Crystal to .xls files, and from there?
I think I know how to get to all of these by doctor, but to give you an idea of what I am trying to gather:
Panel size, % Continuity
% Patients arrived, % patients no-show
% Office Visit notes signed within 2 days, >30 days
% Patients with 1+ chronic
% Pts Diabetes; CAD, Hypertension, Depression, Asthma [individually]
...and so on
So, back to the question...
To be done completely in Crystal, or export to Excel individual report results with a master Excel file calling these other spreadsheets, or push all the data into some kind of tool (Microsoft Access) to compile, or to Cognos or other type of tool to help analyze/report on data.
I'd be very interested to hear anyone's thoughts on this. And even if you have some idea on good metrics that should be incorportated into the analysis.
Thanks.
We looked at many options. We have been working in Crystal and the past few years doing direct SQL queries for our reports. We are on EMR 9.5 and to combine data between CPS and EMR required significant excel manipulation. Currently we are on track to upgrade to CPS 11 with the single database and we are planning to also install http://www.idashboards.com
Our expectation is to program the data manipulation and be able to do much more real time reporting.
As far as provider profiles, although it is important to be able to do broad profiles on providers, I think it's helpful to narrow things down when it comes to actually sharing data. My current thinking is to show providers one thing they clearly excel at, and one thing for which they can improve. Find out if they agree and whether they want to approach improvement. Help them decide on a tool for improvement and give regular feedback on progress.
