Is anyone experiencing issues with the BMN checkbox auto checking?
A nurse of ours was adding an antibiotic for a pt. and as she was sending it to the pharmacy she realized that the BMN box was checked and she did not check it. This is the second time that it has happened to her.
I have tried duplicating the issue, but cannot. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Jess
When the medication is added, is the BMN checkbox selected? Then when refilled, it's auto checked?
Actually, I tested this. If a Rx is added and BMN is checked and the Rx is actually printed/eRx... the next time you refill it, the BMN check box is checked.
HEY!!! THANKS!
I too was wondering about that so I had tested it on a few test patients and you are right it will auto fill in BMN if that's how it was rx'd the previous time.
When I looked at both patient's charts it did not appear that they had been prescribed this before so that's not the issue. 🙁
This issue has happened to only 1 nurse at our specialty clinic and it has happened 3-4 times, all on different pt.'s and different medications...
I haven't heard of it happening anymore to her. She is to call me when she needs to send a rx so that I can watch her process. She has now openly admitted to her provider that she could have checked the box, but doesn't remember. I am unsure if this is a true EMR issue or if this is a user error. I would assume if it was EMR related that she would not be the only one experiencing this issue.
