Hello,
I suspect lots of folks out there are using Biscom fax so I thought I would open this question up to the forum. We used another product in the past from RingCentral and are trying to determine if Biscom has some equivalent functionality.
With RingCentral users were able to create a fax by printing something (anything) which I know Biscom also has. The big difference that staff are finding is that with RingCentral you could keep printing things and create a single fax with multiple items.
Imaging you have 3 word documents. Staff would print each of them, they would each get added to the fax job getting created which waits for them to click SEND.
I haven't been able to find a way to do this in Biscom, but maybe I'm missing something. In case anyone wonders our issue with RingCentral was that the clarity on items when you would "Print to Fax" wasn't good enough. That drove the switch to Biscom.
Thanks!!
We have Biscom and you have to get the software MultiDoc solution (in addition) for this workflow.
If I remember correctly, there is a setting in the Configuration>Advanced section of Biscom that allows for batch faxing. Be careful in here... it can mess things up. Basically, if you send multiple documents to Biscom and they are all destined to the same location, it will combine the documents into one big fax.
I may be way off but I think that's what it does.
Biscom has this functionality built in it.
Use the "Biscom Fax Printer" to send single documents immediately.
To build a batch of faxes print each document to the "Add to List Biscom Fax Printer"
Once you have all the documents added to the list, either open the Faxcom Client, review the attached documents and hit send. OR use the "Biscom Fax Printer" on the last document.
Using the "Add to list" will bundle all of the documents together and send it as a single fax.
((If you don't have the Add to List Biscom Fax Printer, reinstall the application and select it in the install wizard.))

Ring Central is not HIPAA compliant - definitely go with or stay with Biscom. We have limited sending large quantities of documents by utilizing external users (such as school nurses) in our patient portal and sending records via secure messaging to specialists. We have EZAccess Patient Portal.
I'm looking for a "Add to List Biscom Fax Printer" but I don't have that option. Are you sure it's in the standard version (or do we have enterprise?) ?

I wouldn't suggest RingCentral due to the issue we had with clarity of faxes.
However, they do in fact offer a HIPAA compliant option. You have to enable an additional setting that will change how they deliver fax confirmations to you (prevents email).
I was also able to work with a sales rep there to have them execute a BAA with us. So, if HIPAA compliance is the only issue it is attainable. That being said I would still suggest a Biscom solution over RingCentral.
Thanks
