We run the CPS 12 application in a Citrix environment and have discovered that users are closing the IE browser window that launches with the application, rather than minimizing it as trained. Though users are able to continue working in the application with this window closed, we are hoping to understand the possible repercussions. We suspect that this is contributing to an issue with users having concurrent sessions running on the Citrix servers. We also wonder if this might make the application run less efficiently for the said user. Does anyone running CPS in a Citrix environment have any insight? Thank you.
I run in a citrix environment and I don't see a difference between closing the window and minimizing it. Having multiple sessions running on the citrix server would have to do with the time out settings on citrix. We utilize full desktops on Citrix so if you don't that may not be the case. The only time that the window has to remain open is while signing into Centricity. Other than that, it is useless.
A while back we were having some performance issues, more so than normal, and GE actually told us that these specific performance issues were related to leaving the Internet Explorer window open after launching Centricity. GE told us that their best practices dictate that this window should be closed after logging into Centricity.
On top of this recommendation from GE, we now have a 3rd party document management system that uses the IE browser to display documents attached in Centricity and if this initial start up browser window is left open, it can actually cause documents to freeze up in the IE browser.
I wish GE would get all their implementation people on the same page because we were told, by a GE person, that the IE window should always remain open and not to close it.
If they are now saying that it is best practice to close it as soon as the user finishes logging in, I wish they would publish that somewhere and get it out to all CPS clients!
