Our network is investigating the use of fingerprint authentication so we can begin e-prescribing class II medication. Do any of you have experience setting up and using a similar program? I'm curious about how difficult the process was to put into action, incorporate into the workflow, and if you ran into any difficulties with pharmacy or legal acceptance. I'd especially love to hear from somebody from New Hampshire.
Thanks!

Not sure how a fingerprint scanner helps you if Centricity and/or Kryptiq aren't yet passing thru the eRx on scheduled drugs. GE is not yet certified for EPCS on the SureScripts website (only 28 EHRs are listed).
One of the reasons the new 'verify' eRx form appears in EMR9.8/CPS12 is that the secondary approval form is a precursor to sending schedule drugs. It's been awhile since I read the full rules, but I don't recall the FDA/DEA requiring biometrics anyway.

Thank you for the reply.
We're using the fingerprint scanner to satisfy the two factor authentication guideline. Using biometrics seems to be a safer and more workflow friendly secondary form of authentication than a hard token.
I appreciate the heads up regarding CPS/Kryptiq not being EPCS certified. I guess the next step is going to be contacting support to try and fish out usable timetable information.
