I hear a lot of complaints at our organization that the schedule module in CPS is not user-friendly and is very difficult to work with, both for end-users and schedule administrators. I know that setting up user templates could be easier, but all-in-all, it seems pretty straight-forward, intuitive, and easy to use. However, I never have to use the schedule, so what do I know...
For those of you who use the schedule, what do you think of it? Have you used different scheduling systems that are easier/more difficult to work with?
Most of the time when people struggle, it is because they don't have the training they need. Once you understand the module well, it is not bad at all. 9 out of 10 times, things are built wrong! If you want more info, let me know.

The scheduling module in CPS could definitely be better. That being said, I have seen worse.
Schedule templates are not difficult to build but are cumbersome and don't behave as you would expect. It would be nice if the schedule could be edited from the scheduling module as you needed to - for example, opening 1 appointment slot b/c the provider will be available earlier...as it is now, I have to build a new template for that 🙁
Some other complaints I have about the scheduling module are:
1. Status of Daily limits is not easily seen.
2. I personally don't see a need for Blocked appointments and Resource appointments - I think there should be patient appointments and non-patient appointments. +
All in all, the scheduling module does what it was designed to do, but there is room for improvement.

Some enhancements that I would like to see in CPS scheduling are:
1) When you copy an appt and paste it to a new schedule, have it reset anything that done on that appt. For example, if you have printed a superbill, which creates the ticket#, we found that if the office copies that appt, it also copies the ticket#, any appt status, etc. I get the "well you copied the appt" which is correct, but it seems to me that the minute that you paste it to a new schedule/day, then you are now creating a new appt and everything should be 'new'.
2) With schedule templates, it would be nice if there was a Main Holiday schedule where you could go into the one screen and put in the dates that the clinic will be closed, rather than having to either pulling up the date on the provider's schedule and closing it or deleting the date from the schedule template.
3) In our previous system, we could also flag appt types that couldn't be booked next to each other which was a nice feature.
4) It would also be nice if when you look for a patient, if it would bring to screen where you could verify demographics, prior to actually booking the appt. You can see some of the information from the search screen, but you can't update it.
