We are having an issue with a cancelled order in EMR impacting the retrieved charges in PM. Currently we have "tests" set-up to attach to a visit, and go to a status of Admin Hold once signed. Once the "test" is complete, the clinical staff marks the order
"complete" to allow the charge to be retrieved in PM.
The issue we are having is if a "test" is cancelled after it was signed the billing visit cannot be sent to insurance. There is a message “incomplete EMR orders” even though the order was cancelled. Once it is cancelled, it cannot be marked completed and the billing visit is unable to be processed.
Can anyone share their set-up or workflow that allows for:
1. A flag to be sent to a user indicating an immunization or lab test needs to be as part of the visit,
2. The CPT for the order is sent to the PM and gets billed as part of the visit,
3. An order to be cancelled if it is refused or never administered without impacting the billing of the visit

We have an in house lab so we have our lab orders set as in process and when orchard lab sends over the results it completes them. The billing office then retrieves the orders.
You can build a button to send a flag to a specified user/users with what ever info you desire for example to sally nurse please do a flu shot and a cbc today
We just go to the orders tab in the patient chart choose the order click on remove and you get a pop up that says
removing this order will permanately set the status as cancelled. ok to remove.
Hope some of this helps
