Someone was asking about implementing a "number system" during check in. Patients come in, take a number and wait to be called up to the desk. Or maybe doing a sign in sheet. They also thought about a "parking ticket" type system where patients get a card and carry through the visit and give at check out to leave. They want to do this because:
1. To ensure patients are helped in a timely manner. (patients were waking in and sitting down without checking in). Patients get crowded at the front desk in this busy office and it's not so private when verifying information.
2. To promote a more private (more HIPAA compliant) one-on one check in process
The only problem is, we don't want patients to "Feel like they are just a number". They also do not have a formal check out process and would like to implement something to "Close the Visit" and schedule return visits, tests, give portal access, etc.
Has anyone figured out a good way for an organized check in / check out process?
Thought and ideas are welcome and thank you!
We implemented a check in process using what we tagged as " Next In Line" using clockwiseMD
https://clockwise.md
We have IPADS strategically placed in the front lobby for patients to check in with and a big screen in the lobby showing the patient que , which has an alert system built in to notify the patient when they need to come to the desk to register. Very proficient and our patients love it. Also has a component to add to your web site and they can check in from home
