Hello CHUG Community,
My organization is having problems with consistently getting lab results to disperse into the flowsheet. Are there things that I can do as an administrator to help ensure that results show up in the flowsheet? Are there things that the provider need to do to ensure this happens? Any tips or advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Tai
Hi Tai,
My question to you is, who maintains your Lab Code translation table for LinkLogic? At least from our perspective, all of our outside labs use their own codes in the HL7 messages that they send to us and we have a separate translation table for each Lab Result interface in LinkLogic. If we want to add labs that aren't showing up in the Flowsheet, then they have to be added to the translation table, if the lab changes some of their lab codes then these have to be updated in the translation table, and on some occasion the person, who maintains this table, mistypes one of the codes, which prevents it from going into the Flowsheet and therefore has to be corrected.
I do not mean to sound over simplistic, or condescending, I just learned long ago to always try including all parts, no matter how easy or obvious they seem. So this translation table and the person who maintains it is where I would start first.
In addition to the other comment, the person who manages and monitors your LinkLogic errors needs to specifically watch for messages with error code 1072. The 1072 error messages explicitly identify which lab results are not matching to OBS terms (which drive the flowsheets).
Once you identify the results that are not matching to an OBS term, you need to identify the correct OBS term being displayed in your flowsheets and map the lab vendor result code to your OBS term.
We do have a person that handles all our coding. I'll have her check to make sure all the codes are updated. I also checked the LinkLogic Errors and you are correct. There were many lab errors due to not matching obs terms. Looks like we have a lot of work to do to update the obs terms and map the results code to it. Thanks for your feedback.
