Several of our physicians and one administrator are excited that Centricity EMR supports custom clinical content development using VFE. The flexibility is great but there are always long-term maintenance and administrative considerations that we need to discuss. Who does custom clinical content development in your organization and what are your change control processes (i.e. request approvals, content development, impact analysis, testing, documentation, and production implementation)? We recently implemented a “Centricity Evaluation” team. The team consists of physicians, certified coders, compliance, and director of the physician group, EMR trainer, IT and the billing department. We review request from the offices, our main goal is to have each specialty utilize the same forms and flowsheets. We hope this will help improve efficiency with Meaningful Use and ICD-10. But I would be interested in seeing how other organizations are dealing with this also.
