Collection Letters and Patient Balances
I am looking for a way to print the entire patient balance as a total on a collection letter, the same patient balance that you can see in the Account Summary screen. I have tried Patient_Visit_Details but it provides too much information including the total balance (ins+patient), insurance and patient balance.
I then tried Visit_Patient_Balance but that is at the visit level only and does not include multiple visits.
I wondered if there was a way to take all the Pat Balance elements and add them together? Any thoughts?

For Guarantor based collection letters (possibly multiple patients) use the Account_Total_Balance merge field.
For Patient based collection letters (one patient only) use the Patient_Balance_Current merge field.

We are doing guarantor based letters and I did try the account_total_balance field, this is the one that includes the insurance and patient balances together. I thought since it was in the patient field section in the mergefield help file that it would just be patient but it was not as far as I can see.
I may try the patient_balance_current, but I worried if the balances were not current but aged it might not pull them.
Puzzling.
