As we prepare for the long awaited 12.2 update and the ability to eprescribe controlled substances, I am hearing that GE is going to require customers to pay them to do the upgrade and associated professional services. No more self-upgrades or maybe just for 12.2? I have to get more information because this doesn't sound quite right. This is an expense which we have chosen to absorb by doing these upgrades ourselves due to increasing costs in general. As a result, we really don't have a budget for this so I thought I would see what you guys have heard?

Mike,
This would be something we would want to know also. We also normally do the upgrades in house.
Please keep us posted.
On a side note, which second level authentication method(s) did you chose - fingerprint, token, smartphone - a combination of all 3?
Do you know or have any idea on how much the Imprivata licensing is going to be per provider?
Thanks,

Mike and Mike, I hadn't heard that. Let me see if I can get some clarification.
Good Morning Mike and Mike,
I got an answer below on the upgrade from GE. Looks like we can do the upgrade ourselves but will need to use GE or a VAR to help with the EPCS setup. As for pricing I seem to remember someone official told me $500 per year per provider don't quote me on that though. My group will use tokens.
Answer Below from GE concerning GE Direct Customers other customers should check with their VAR:
GE Healthcare will continue to provide customers with professional services, if desired by the customer, as a billable service offering. Customers are not required to use GE services for the their CPS 12.2 or EMR 9.10 upgrade. The only services that should be expected to be required are the Install/Implementation/Consulting of the new EPCS solution.
Not all customers use GE for upgrade services and that will continue as normal.
If a customer is interested in GE assisting with the upgrade, customers can reach out to Inside Sales [email protected] for quotes and assistance.

Any answers about the second level of authentication you are planning to use?
