We have a lab interface with our hospital lab............however, some of the specialists order tests that are sent out to a reference lab for processing.............and those results are returned to our system as "Text" or Non-Structured Data.
We are trying to figure out the workflow for manual entry of labs so that it gives us MU credit for the measure "Stores labs as structured data".
I'll describe what we have done to this point without success.
Lab report hits centricity...........non structured data. The provider opens a document type called Lab Interpretation, loads value to flowsheet, enters comments, and signs. This does not give us credit for MU.
We have also tried: Lab report hits centricity............non structured data. We append the lab report, ensure the document type is Lab Rpt (not append), load the value to flowsheet and nurse signs. Doesn't give us credit for MU.
I am currently testing: Lab report hits centricity............non structured data. We append the lab report, ensure the document type is Lab Rpt (not append), load the value to flowsheet and provider signs. If this works, it is a poor workflow because the provider is essentially signing off on the same lab report twice.
Any guidance is much appreciated here.
Thanks, Sharon
Not sure if this helps but we also interface with our hospital system and have some results that come in as text as well. Our Centricity interface takes the results and sends one message with structured data (it populates the flowsheet with the date and see report...) then another messages comes in as the text document. Because we have done this we are able to get MU credit. Maybe your interface team could make this happen for you too.
If you are adding the value to the flowsheet it should count in the MU audits. Make sure there are no alpha characters in the flowsheet value. We just figure this out with the help of GE support some of our INR values hit the flowsheet as 1.2 Ratio instead of 1.2, just the word ratio in the value is enough to move it to the unmet in CQR. If you think you are doing everything right, send in a support ticket to make sure your workflow is correct. Good luck!
