Does anyone know of a company that can be used to transfer a complete database from a different EMR into CPS . We have aquired several practices recently and the manual process takes alot of man hours.
Our only experience doing this is with a company called ELLKAY with GE being middleman (project management). They were decent to work with, but in the end, some things didn't work out as we had hoped. It wasn't a disaster, but it wasn't super smooth either.
What was the time frame for the actual transfer? Did it cause any operational problems within CPS ? Lots of questions I 'm sorry.
The time frame for the project was a few months including 4 or 5 test iterations that were a week or so apart. The actual database portion of the conversion happens pretty quickly (a couple hours or so). If there are external documents being moved in any great quantity, those can take a while.
Be prepared to tell them exactly what you want migrated in great detail and make sure some clinical people are involved in checking the migrated data in the test database to ensure it's correct and everything is there as you want it. We overlooked quantity and refills on the meds that came over so that part wasn't quite right. I am not sure if GE uses the same people for conversions all of the time or if they have different ones depending on the source system in our case, it was SRS).
There used to be a company called "Lost Creek Consulting" that did some of this stuff. We have never worked with them, but I know we asked for a quote once years back and it was quite a bit more than ELLKAY. Not sure if the experience would be better, worse, or the same.
