I was wondering if anyone has an API with a Diabetes app that directly sends patient data into EMR from a glucometer. If so, what software are you using? How are you integrating it in?
I'm unaware of anything like that. We prefer to not save this data into the EMR, but rather upload our patient's pump and meter data to Diasend. This has several advantages:
- You no longer have to maintain a bunch of diabetes management software programs on a computer to perform the downloads
- The data reports are all presented in a consistent manner; regardless of the meter or pump manufacturer
- Eliminates the need to use our own resources (data storage) to store this data
Glooko and Diasend recently merged and Glooko is supposed to have an API that should allow us to eventually integrate CPS with their cloud service. The idea is that you could be looking at a patient's record in Centricity and then click on a hyperlink that would take you to that patient's diabetic meter/pump reports. This would provide a more seamless experience for our providers.
Something to consider.
this is great information. thank you. I am going to reach out to them for more information on teh EHR integration piece. Do you have a point of contact or should I just call sales?
Lisa,
our Diasend representative doesn't cover your area so I would just contact them directly to get the ball rolling. We are happy to share experiences if you decide to go this route. Feel free to email me directly.
Cheers,
Greg
I've been exploring options for integrating patient data from a Diabetes app directly into EMR systems via API. It's great to see others interested in this integration as well. From my research, I stumbled upon a resource that might be helpful for those seeking such integration. This article delves into the process of medical device integration with EMR, which could be relevant to our discussion. If anyone has experience or insights to share regarding the software they're using or their integration process, I'd love to hear about it!
