Our practice is currently trying out document management/docutrak within Centricity GE. Our docs are wanting to actually document and sign the documents being imported into the system. Does anyone have any work arounds for this? Is anyone using a different application than document management that you are able to actually "write" on the form?
The licensed versions of adobe have some capabilities to edit PDFs and add signatures, but I am not sure what workflow you would be able to come up with to do this. What is the reason for a physical signature? Are the documents being faxed out of EMR after they are signed?
Importing documents into the system as unsigned will allow them to electronically sign the internal document. (not the PDF itself)
If you could define the dataflow/workflow maybe I could help you come up with something.
I have a whole new document management system, which my clients believe is top of the line with automated OCR processors to auto-index with rules setup. I do not have the ability to write directly onto the pdf's, but this is an interesting option, and will see if I can add this to a future release. If you are interested, please let me know. I can schedule an online demo.
