Just curious to hear how you manage your eRx pharmacies.
- Do you export them as-is from the console to the EMR?
- Do you create custom pharmacies in the EMR and match them on the console?
- Do you do something completely different?
I usually try to export them from the eSM console into the EMR. If they aren't listed there, I will add them into the EMR and occasionally check for a match and merge when/if I find one. My only logic with this way is that it is less labor intensive than entering all the information into the EMR.
I do exactly the same thing as mbellis. It makes it easier and each pharmacy is usually unique. I then trained my staff to look up by city, state or zip code. They then can usually find the pharmacy they are looking for.
That is what I am accustomed to doing. I am working with another facility that has custom pharmacies and matches. I may have to convert them to this method to save my sanity and re-train. I think that would be best/easiest in the long run.
Saving as much sanity as possible in this system is always good.....
At this point, for just adding dribs and drabs, I export them to EMR, then edit the name in EMR to the naming convention we have been using.
