Hi Guys,
We're on EMR 9.8.4_0 and receive tickets daily regarding crashing. I've created many SR's but we have yet to find a solution to any of these crashes. The crash logs aren't very helpful for GE and it is tough to setup tracing on each PC and wait for a crash. Is anyone else experiencing crashing? Have you done anything specific that has helped? GE has requested that we update to the latest service pack. Will that really prevent all this crashing? Any feedback is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike
We have also experienced many crashes since the 9.8.4 update. Our crashes occur when an a user attempts to print within EMR. It results in an access violation error msg. Interestingly, not all users experience the problem and it seems to be sporadic, making it difficult to trace.
One observation was that the problem has not been encountered on a 64-bit operating system. We are in the process of upgrading, but many of our desktop PCs have 32-bit processors.
We are still in the watch-and-wait phase. Hopefully you can resolve your problem. GE was not particularly helpful and would close cases as resolved, when their advice doesn't fix the problem.
Good luck,
Laura
I had a similar issue when printing. I found a particular print driver had this issue. I tried another printer and things were fine. I don't know if this is your issue but might be worth investigating.

Have we been experiencing crashing? Daily! We are hosted with GE and have one of their engineers actually dedicated to trying to figure out the issue. We have had our JBOSS services restarted, reinstalled, more servers added, error logging turned on for the servers and there are still over 200 instances of crashes daily. System errors, clipboard errors...all at different places in the EMR, some when people are not even IN the EMR...just logging on. They are supposed to have a team meeting Thursday with their "best support analysts" to take a look at our system and they are building another JBOSS server just in case. We sent them information we found where some non-hosted sites had experienced similar issues and found out that it was possibly related to a Windows security update issue and once that KB was removed, they didn't have problems any longer. No word on if they are looking at that. They are supposed to be installing SP7 Wednesday, but I'm not so sure that is going to help either. We are skipping SP7 and going to 8 right away.
This has been happening since we went live last April and my customers are so tired of it all and it has severely impacted productivity in some areas. We just want it fixed!
Do you know which Microsoft Security Update was removed that caused some relief in the system crashing?
Any update on if this has worked, which security update has been identified?
